Slovak Centre for science and technology information, Slovak academy of sciences and Slovak science and technology companies Union organized on 13th of May 2019 a 22nd year of Slovak Scientist of the Year event. Main goal of the event was to highlight the most important science academia persons both professionally and socially. The event also acknowledged the best conclusions made in science and research.

Prof. RNDr. Otokar Grošek, a member of Military Intelligence of Slovak Republic, holds a tenure at Faculty of electronics and information technology at Slovak technical university in Bratislava. He was awarded in the category “Figure of International cooperation”. He received the award for propagation of Slovak science in NATO environment, long term success in obtaining foreign grants and for receiving an award of NATO Science Programme.

Professor Grošek led in 2013 – 2016 a NATO project “Secure Implementation of Post-Quantum Cryptography”. The project also involved members of international science community from France, Israel and USA. In November 2018 this project was rated as the best project of the decade of NATO Science Programme called “Science for Peace and Security” in the field of cybersecurity.

The project’s goal, awarded by NATO, was to describe and determine cryptographic measures (designing of systems, new algorithms and security methods) due to oncoming expansion of quantum computing. Evolution in this technology field will make standard methods, procedures and solutions obsolete and they will become insufficient in security, both in military and public community.
