Defence Ministers of the Slovak Republic and the Republic of Poland Peter Gajdoš and Antoni Macierewicz consider creation of NATO Counter Intelligence Centre of Excellence (CI CoE) as a contribution for strengthening security of the North Atlantic Alliance countries. The ministers on their bilateral meeting in Warsaw on Wednesday with director of Military Intelligence Maj. Gen. Jan Balciar and head of polish counterintelligence (SKW) Piotr Bączek welcomed achieving accreditation of CI CoE from NATO. Hereby has finished the first phase of the process and now is the time for real work on development of doctrines as a tool for strengthening NATO interoperability, mainly in the area of training and exchange of experiences among partners.

Both sides refused the false information on alleged interest of Slovakia to leave the project. Those information appeared in some Polish articles on social web sites. Also information in some Slovak media articles are according to the directors of intelligences disinformation which can be treated as a convenient pretext for the attack on the CI CoEs.

NATO Counter Intelligence Centre started to work in September 2016 in Krakow in Poland. Another eight Alliance countries joined common Polish-Slovak initiative. Slovakia in addition to sending of experienced officers contribute also by providing the Training Centre Lešť. Training Centre gained accreditation after approval by Alliance in February 2017.
